The 5th/6th graders studied ancient civilizations in Social Studies.  They toured the ancient Egypt exhibit at the Field Museum in Chicago then each designed a mummy case.

In Science class, the 7th/8th grade students participated in the process of designing and constructing a boat out of aluminum foil.  Their goal was to construct a floating device that would carry as many pennies as possible.  By using the technology design process, the students built and evaluated their prototypes, and the troubleshooted, tested, and redesigned until they made a boat which carried the most amount of weight.
