Someone You Should Know . . . Jimmy Segura
Selected The Reporter Newspaper's Student of the Week for October 13 Newspaper Article
Congratulations to our 8th grader Jimmy Segura on being a recipient of the Southside Catholic Conference Christian Leadership Award. Each year the Southside Catholic Conference sponsors this award. It is given to a student from each school in the conference who "always leads with their hearts and do what they what they believe what is right." Congratulations to Jimmy who received his award on September 20.
Jimmy was also named Student of the Week by The Reporter Newspaper on October 13.
Proud of Our Alum & Teacher
The Freshmen
Class at Mt. Assisi Academy were asked to write an essay about a grade school
teacher that has impacted their life in some way. Alum Carla Roszczybiuk wrote
the essay about our very own Mrs. Terry Lonergan. Grade school teachers from
all over the Chicagoland area were invited to a special ceremony on December 8
that honors grade school teachers that have been nominated by current freshmen.

FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Friends of St. Bernadette Catholic Academy,
The theme for Catholic Schools Week 2012 is FAITH, ACDEMICS & SERVICE. I
believe it very adequately pinpoints what we do so well at St. Bernadette. We
try to live our FAITH, grow ACADEMICALLY and give to others in SERVICE each
day. Our students have continued to learn that “Jesus is the reason for our
school.”
Our students are enriched
with a wonderful foundation of FAITH
through participation at weekly Masses, all-school prayer services as well as
daily prayer together in our school community. Our excellent academic programs,
enriched with technology, provides our students with an excellent ACADEMIC foundation. Our students
are well aware that there are many people who are not as fortunate as they are
and our students and their families give generously to many SERVICE projects throughout the year.
One of our proudest
accomplishments is to hear from our alumni (Letter from Mrs. Ridley - parent of alumni)on how well they are doing at area
high schools as well as colleges and universities because of the Academic
foundation they received at St. Bernadette and to also hear from our current families (Sun Times article on Raven Smith) as to how well our students are doing outside the
classroom.
Please join us today immediately after 9:00 am Mass
for our Open House, Book Fair and New Students Registration at school.
Refreshments will be served. St. Bernadette Catholic Academy offers 3 year old
Full Day Preschool through Grade 8 as well as Extended Day and much, much more!
